Apple just made a statement about the reason for cutting MagSafe charging on iPhone 16e, making everyone surprised.
Apple has surprised many people by removing the MagSafe charger on the newly launched iPhone 16e model. People are even more surprised by the reason that the "bitten apple" gave for this issue, the company said that it was not due to a technical problem, but because... users did not care much about this feature.
Apple's removal of MagSafe on the iPhone 16e leaves users confused.
The iPhone 16e still supports wireless charging, but only at 7.5W, which is significantly slower than MagSafe's 15W (or 25W on some high-end models). There have been rumors that Apple's new C1 5G modem interferes with MagSafe's magnetic field, but Apple has denied this.
Instead, Apple believes that the majority of iPhone 16e users primarily use wired charging. They rarely use wireless charging, and if they do, they don't care about the slower charging speeds.
"According to Apple's representative, most iPhone 16e users only charge with a cable. They rarely use wireless charging, and if they do, they don't care about the 7.5W speed. For me, the most regrettable thing is not the charging speed, but the feeling of MagSafe sticking to the position. But I think Apple knows their customers better than I do," shared John Gruber from Daring Fireball.
Many people believe that this is a clever way for Apple to hide the reason for cutting production costs. The iPhone 16e is positioned in the cheaper price segment ($599), and removing MagSafe is one of the ways Apple reduces costs.
Despite the mixed reviews on price, the iPhone 16e is still a compelling option with its powerful A18 chip and 128GB of storage. However, the lack of MagSafe may leave some users feeling disappointed.
