OpenAI fixed the issue that caused ChatGPT to go down for several hours on June 4 local time.
The company said the problem started at about 2:21 p.m. on June 4, Vietnam time. The service went down for some users globally and caused many to cry foul by reporting the issue on media platforms like X and Threads.
Continuous outages have occurred with ChatGPT recently.
When the problem occurs, if the user accesses ChatGPT's website, they will see a white website interface with a chat frame dialog box appearing. However, users cannot fill in the question content in this chat box to receive a response from ChatGPT.
For users who access the ChatGPT application on a smartphone and fill out a question, they will only receive the response "An error occurred. Please try again later".
On its service status page, OpenAI marked the issue as a major outage and said it had identified the error and worked on a fix. At the time of writing, the reporter noted that the service had resumed.
The ChatGPT mobile application was also affected during the incident.
It is known that ChatGPT has more than 100 million weekly users. Before the above incident occurred, ChatGPT also had several outages in the past 30 days. The most notable outage occurred last month when users were unable to access web results, with the cause later traced to a Bing API outage.
