A Leavenworth County, Kansas woman has been sentenced to 12 months of probation for insurance fraud, Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt announced.
Jennifer Walker, aged 48, pleaded guilty on July 29, 2026, in Leavenworth County District Court to one felony count of attempted insurance fraud. Following a collision, Walker misrepresented the date of the event during he
r auto claim to obtain coverage of loss that occurred prior to the inception of her new policy. She was sentenced on September 9, 2026, to 12 months of probation.
“Every time someone commits insurance fraud, it causes families and businesses across Kansas to pay more,” said Schmidt. “The Department will continue to hold these individuals accountable.”
The Kansas Department of Insurance investigated this case which was prosecuted by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office.

ng paid in advance, Carbone would do minimal work before abandoning the project completely, and in some cases did no work at all. Carbone left consumers with no materials for their payments and refused multiple demands for refunds.
After being indicted by a Franklin County grand jury in April of 2023, Carbone pled guilty to all 12 felony counts in the indictment. As a result of his guilty pleas, the Court ordered Carbone to pay back $180,953.27 in restitution.
Carbone was subsequently sentenced to 10 years for the felony Financial Exploitation of an Elderly Person counts, seven years for each felony Stealing coun
t, and four years for each Deceptive Business Practices count, all to be served in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
All counts will run concurrently, with the execution of those sentences being suspended. Carbone was also placed on a period of supervised probation for five years and ordered not to own any concrete construction company.
