salers to deploy machine learning in production at the submission-intake stage – moving ahead of
a wholesale market where this type of automation is still nascent, and positioning BSG as a first mover rather than a fast follower.
The challenge
Specialty submissions arrive in widely varying formats, from a range of brokers, with differing levels of completeness. Each one needs careful review, triage, and data capture before an underwriter can begin evaluating risk. As
volume scaled into the hundreds of thousands of submissions annually, BSG saw an oppor
tunity to redesign intake to accelerate submission processing, improve responsiveness, and help und
erwriters engage with agents faster. The goal was to create a more efficient experience for both internal teams and the agents who depend on timely underwriting decisions.

BSG’s approach
