Connecticut Launches Site to Help Consumers Understand Insurance Needs

Connecticut Insurance Department (CID) announced the launch of the Consumer Information Cent

er, an online resource to help citizens better understand and navigate their insurance coverage and make informed decisions about the protection they need.

The Consumer Information Center brings together interactive tools and key resources across major lines of insurance, including health, auto, homeowners, long term care,

life insurance and annuities, and flood insurance. The site also features quizzes, checklists, and the Department’s newly launched Climate Risk Mapping Tool.

Commissioner Andrew N. Mais said the initiative supports one of CID’s top strategic priorities for 2025, consumer education.

“Our goal is to give residents clear information they can trust, presented in a way that helps them make confident decisions about protecting their homes, their h

ealth, and their financial well-being,” Mais said. “Insurance can be complicated, but it does not have to be. The Consumer Information Center offers one central place where

people can find straightforward answers and practical resources, and it will continue to evolve to meet the needs of Connecticut residents for years to come.”

There is also information on insurance rights, protections, common questions, and how to submit complaints for assistance with insurance disputes or problems.

The site also offers a Life Insurance Policy Locator tool to help families find lost or unknown life insurance policies; the Climate Risk Mapping Tool, which provides propert

y-level risk assessments of flood, wildfire, wind, extreme heat, and other perils. and step-by-step guides for understanding coverage and filing claims.

Moltbook’s creator, Matt Schlicht, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Schlicht has previously championed “vibe coding” — the practice of putti

ng programs together with the help of artificial intelligence. In a message posted to X on Friday, Schlicht said he “didn’t write one line of code” for the site.

Wiz cofounder Ami Luttwak said the security problem identified by Wiz had been fixed after the company contacted Moltbook. He called it a classic byproduct of vibe coding.

“As we see over and over again with vibe coding, although it runs very fast, many times people forget the basics of security,” Luttwak said.

At least one other expert, Australia-based offensive security specialist Jamieson O’Reilly, has pub

licly flagged similar issues. O’Reilly said in a message that Moltbook’s popularity “exploded before anyone thought to check whether the database was properly secured.”
