Swiss Re Sets Up Task Force to Monitor

Swiss Re AG has set up a task force to see how the tariffs installe

d by the United States against Switzerland and other countries is impacting the Zurich-based reinsurer.

Chief Executive Officer Andreas Berger said he doesn’t see the tariffs directly affecting the reinsurance indus

try, but the task force aims to find out how there are indirect impacts from the levies.

“For instance, are the costs for losses going up because repairs are being more expensive in the future et ceter

a- these things we monitor very closely,” Berger said in a Bloomberg TV interview on Thursday. “What we do is apply strategic patience,” he said.

Swiss Re reported half-year results on Thursday beating expectations of analysts. The reinsurer’s property and casualty division helped to boost the results.

claim on res judicata grounds that the prior agreed-upon work injury description, already amended once by the officer, precluded him from again amending it to add

a mental health injury because the claim had already been resolved.

However, the Commonwealth Court found that his claim for PTSD was not barred by res judicata, which prevents re

litigating of a claim once it has been decided, because the earlier injury claim from the work incident dealt with other

issues and the PTSD was not known at that time of the earlier agreement. The intermediate appellate court thus re

versed a March 2024 decision by the Workers’ Compensation Appeal Board that had disallowed the PTSD claim.

Evidence showed that the officer was suffering from depression right after the robbery incident but was emba

or think of it as compensable when first claiming benefits. He got concerned and raised it as an issue only after his symptoms worsened and he had suicidal thoughts and flashbacks.
