Leaked iPhone 17 Pro images with the boldest design in years

Apple may be preparing a new design when it announces the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max later this year.

A leaked CAD render suggests that this aesthetic change could come to the base models as well. According to a YouTuber, the company will keep the camera layout the same, with the rear design similar to Google's Pixel line.

In particular, the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will likely feature a new two-tone finish, with the camera bar being a darker shade. Front Page Tech host Jon Prosser says the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will have a design change, at least on the back. Instead of a flat back with a triple camera cluster and LiDAR sensor, Apple is expected to take a new approach to the camera bar.

This change could make Apple's devices look more like the Google Pixel 9 series, although renders show that the cameras will take up a larger surface area. The camera cluster will be placed on the left side, while the LED flash, microphone, and LiDAR unit will be integrated vertically on the right side.

Later this year, Apple could also switch to a two-tone finish, with the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max's camera bar having a darker finish than the rest of the chassis.

Apple may have realized that customers are growing tired of the same design over the years, despite the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max having larger screens when they launched last year. This lack of positive reception could be the reason for the slight decline in iPhone revenue in Q1 2025 compared to the same period last year. This change, along with the expansion of Apple Intelligence into other regions, including China, could be a positive for the company.

However, given Jon Prosser's mixed track record when it comes to reliability, users should take all of the information regarding the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max as mentioned above with a grain of salt.
