Galaxy Z Fold 7 reveals surprising information about the chipset used

Leaked information suggests that another version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip may be used by Samsung for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 model.

Samsung is expected to launch at least four new foldable phones this year, including at least one that will use a new version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip that has just been discovered. Qualcomm has quietly updated the listing of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip (SM8750-3-AB) on its website, with information that this version is made specifically for foldable and ultra-thin devices, according to Sammobile.

The new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is built on TSMC's 3nm process and features a 7-core CPU, including two main cores running at up to 4.32 GHz and five high-performance cores running at up to 3.53 GHz. Compared to the previous Snapdragon 8 Elite version, this new version lacks a high-performance core, suggesting that this could be a cut-down version with a lower cost.

The highlight of the new chip is that one CPU core is disabled, which helps reduce the heat generated, making it more suitable for ultra-thin and foldable smartphones. This chip is expected to be equipped with the Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Fold7 and possibly the Galaxy S25 Slim.

Samsung 's new foldable smartphone models are expected to officially launch in mid-2025, while the Galaxy S25 Slim could be introduced in May this year.
