The iPhone line has always lagged behind its competitors in terms of battery charging speeds, which has disappointed many, but things could change with the iPhone 16.
Apple has its reasons for limiting battery charging power as a way to increase battery life, but falling so far behind the industry standard is frustrating.
Fortunately, for the iPhone 16 series, we may see wired charging speeds of up to 45W supported thanks to the latest leaks.
The iPhone 16 series is the fastest charging iPhone ever.

A regulatory body called the China Quality Certification Center has revealed the charging specifications for the newly launched iPhone 16 series.
All models can charge up to 45W via the USB-C port, which is the first time Apple has introduced this support.
The images show that the devices have been tested at a range of 5-15V while delivering 3A of current, which is equivalent to reaching 45W. Comparing the latest charging speeds with last year's iPhone 15 models, the iPhone 16 series can fully charge 50% faster.
Again, if you own an iPhone 15 model, you'll notice that even with a high-quality charger, you won't be able to go beyond 29W of power.
What's interesting is that the latest charging speeds are a bit higher than what was previously rumored.
Previously, the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max were said to support fast charging up to 40W when using a wired connection and up to 20W when using a compatible MagSafe wireless charger - which also bumps that up to 25W.

It’s odd that Apple never mentioned this spec during the announcement, especially given the history of customer frustration with fast charging on iPhones.
Apple may feel that the competition has gone too far in this category to even mention how significant an upgrade the iPhone 16 series will be.
Now all that remains to be seen is whether this 45W wired charging support will have any short-term adverse effects on battery health.
Now, a new report suggests that the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max variants will offer significantly faster charging speeds.
Specifically, they will support 40W (wired) or 20W (MagSafe) fast charging.
All four current iPhone 15 models support up to 27W wired fast charging with a compatible charger and 15W for MagSafe charging.
The bezels on the iPhone 16 models are also expected to be thinner this year, to the point where they are said to be the thinnest on any smartphone
. This will give more screen space to all variants. Additionally, Apple is said to be supplying Samsung's M14 OLED panels for the high-end iPhone 16 duo
, which means better image quality than the OLED panels found in the Galaxy S24 series.
