Samsung finally has the most interesting laptop today

A series of new Copilot+ laptops have recently appeared, promising to open a new era for the PC world.

Many of these laptops emphasize the performance and long battery life provided by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X chip. Those are impressive things, but if you look at laptop brands launching new products, Samsung's participation is truly remarkable.

Design efficiency

Copilot+ PC has been Microsoft's recent target, launching with laptops that compete with the MacBook Air in terms of performance and battery life. However, many of them are still thicker than the competition. For example, the Surface Laptop is still 17.5 mm thick despite Microsoft's design adjustments, while the MacBook Air M3 is only 11.2 mm thick, significantly thinner.

To create a thin laptop, designers took full advantage of the efficiency of the ARM architecture, which allowed Apple to switch from the powerful Intel MacBook Air to the breathtakingly thin MacBook Air M2.

Some other Copilot+ laptops come closer but aren't quite on par with the MacBook Air, until Samsung's surprisingly thin 14- and 16-inch Galaxy Book4 Edge, especially the 14-inch model. The 14-inch version is only 11 mm thick, while the 16-inch version is 12.2 mm thick. That means the 14-inch version is Thinner than the MacBook Air. In the case of larger models, Samsung can even tuck in an HDMI port on the side.

It's clear that the new Qualcomm chip really delivers like Apple Silicon, especially if the Galaxy Book4 Edge can deliver strong performance. More impressively, while the MacBook Air doesn't have a fan, the Galaxy Book4 Edge has a fan that helps maintain better performance without the need for a thicker chassis. The Galaxy Book4 Edge certainly isn't the thinnest Copilot+ PC ever, but it's a real shame that Samsung took the opportunity to cut down on the size.

Galaxy AI

The other big push behind Copilot+ is AI, an area where the Galaxy Book4 Edge excels. All of these laptops benefit from new AI features built into Windows like Recall, but the Galaxy Book4 Edge has the advantage thanks to its position in the larger Samsung ecosystem.

In particular, the product has a new feature that takes advantage of making Copilot more useful. Using Copilot and Phone Link on Galaxy Book4 Edge will allow users to fully control their phone through natural language generated by AI. So, let's say a user wants to text someone or set a map to the next location on his phone, it can all now be done through natural language on the PC.

Of course, that's just the beginning as more and more developers start building Copilot-based tools and exploiting the NPU power of these laptops.

What will the selling price be?

One concern surrounding these new Samsung devices is product cost. Samsung has limited configurations available and they are sold at a higher price than other Copilot+ PC products. That could be a problem, especially since the MacBook Air M2 is still sold so cheaply. One of the problems with Copilot+ PC is the minimum 16GB RAM requirement, which means the basic configuration doesn't come cheap.

Price will be the deciding factor in the competition of Galaxy Book4 Edge with MacBook Air.

But if you have chosen a Windows product worthy of a competitor to the MacBook Air, the Galaxy Book4 Edge seems to be ready for that position. It takes more time to approach the product, but it seems that Samsung laptops will be among the top Copilot+ laptops that users want to experience.
